IB Art Senior Exhibition

Please join us on Wednesday, March 5 in the Greely Center for the Arts Gallery from 4:00 - 6:00PM. for an opening celebration! The students in IB Art have put together a self curated art exhibition of resolved artworks from their two years in this course. The selected pieces show their technical accomplishments and demonstrate their conceptual growth and understanding of their intentions. Each student has researched, planned, and created a cohesive body of work to be proud of. We are very proud of this wonderful group of eleven seniors who have put a lot of care and effort into this exhibition. The show will be open until April 2.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for MSAD #51 (Cumberland-North Yarmouth) has begun. If your child will be five years old on or before October 15, 2025, they are eligible to attend kindergarten this fall.

Additionally, if you have a student currently enrolled in a private school or being homeschooled and would like them to attend Mabel I. Wilson School in the fall, please register your child online at www.msad51.org. We want to ensure all incoming students are included in the placement process for the 2025-26 school year. If you have any questions, please call or email MIW at 829-4825.

Inkwell, Student Magazine at Greely High School, Wins Excellent for Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Contest!

March, 3 (Cumberland, ME)—Inkwell from Greely High School, has been recognized as an EXCELLENT magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

This year, schools in 46 states and five countries nominated 422 student magazines. Magazines from middle school, high school, and higher education were welcomed for the 2024 contest.

The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories, Canada, and American schools abroad are eligible to nominate magazines.

If you would like something included in our weekly newsletter, please send a brief write up with title along with a JPEG or PNG image of your flyer (if applicable) to Melissa Porter for approval. The deadline each week is Wednesday. Any requests received after Wednesday will be reviewed for possible submission in the following week's newsletter. All approved submissions will be posted on the district's website.
