From the Superintendent
Despite a 7% increase in students over the last decade, the average annual budget expenditure increase has been 4.74% and the average annual mil rate increase has been held below the rate of inflation, at 2.72% in Cumberland and 2.64% in North Yarmouth, during this same time period. In other words, even with the demands of a growing district we have tried hard to be fiscally responsive to taxpayers.
On another note, each year staff members are invited to nominate colleagues who exemplify the attributes of MSAD #51's mission to meet each student's personal best. I am pleased to announce the finalists for the 2024 MSAD #51 Staff Member of the Year, who were chosen from 34 nominations across the district. Congrats to our finalists and all staff who were nominated for this honor (see below for finalists).

Community Partners
Our Community Partners are strong supporters of various areas of the school. Without them, our students would not have many of the wonderful opportunities and experiences that they receive.
It's the Memorial Day 5K and Fun Run/Walk!
Bright and early on Memorial Day morning (before the parade) we need your help to pull off a successful 5K and Fun Run! There are many opportunities to choose from - both day of and beforehand - that will really help us!
Please take a moment to check out the sign up list and see where you can help out to support this popular community event! We really can't do it without you!!!
Race Day: Monday, May 27th
7:00am: Registration opens
8:00am: Fun Run (12 and under) starts
8:30am: 5K starts
Do you have a runner in the Kids Fun Run or 5K? Come be a flagger on the course! We need volunteers to make this a fun and memorable event. Use the link below for more details!

If you would like something included in our weekly newsletter, please send a brief write up with title along with a JPEG or PNG image of your flyer (if applicable) to Melissa Porter for approval. The deadline each week is Sunday. Any requests received after Sunday will be reviewed for possible submission in the following week's newsletter. All approved submissions will be posted on the district's website.
