Employee Spotlight of the Week

Where are you from? Where did you go to school?
I hit the lottery growing up in Northern Maine in the town of Millinocket, at the foot of Mount Katahdin and surrounded by lakes and the beauty of nature. I graduated from Stearns High School and continued my journey of learning including earning a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling.

Share something about your family and/or pets.
I have been married to my wife, Rebecca for 15 years, together 20, and share two amazing sons that I’m blessed enough to have in the district with me. In the midst of the Brown family chaos is our five year old rescue dog, Rose.

What makes you proud to be a member of the MSAD #51 community?
Aside from being consistently one of the top school districts in the state with so many talented staff members, I am honored and proud to be part of a growing focus on our students’ social and emotional health.

When you are not in school, what can you be found doing?
I treasure time with my family, whether that's being at home or adventuring out and about. Spending time with amazing friends, morning walks with Rosie, reading, listening to podcasts/audible, journaling, and continuous learning, help maintain my overall well-being. Additionally, I spend time focusing on physical fitness and enjoy a variety of activities, from adventure racing to mixed martial arts and everything in between.

What celebrity would you cast to play you in the movie of your life?
I would go with my favorite actor from childhood and into adulthood, Sean Penn. It may be a stretch for Sean as he would have to decide whether to shave his head or perhaps wear a bald cap since I’m follically challenged.

What was your favorite class in school?
School did not always come easy for me, but I was always fond of English class, particularly writing. I had a huge passion for writing and am learning to reignite this flame in the present. My love of English class led me to getting an undergraduate degree in secondary education.
